TRIBUTES have been paid to a long serving lollipop lady who is retiring after a quarter of a decade of helping Holsworthy’s youth to safely cross the road to school.
Shirley Crane is hanging up her uniform after 25 years of dedicated service, leading to Holsworthy Town Council paying a tribute to her.
Ms Crane was described as a ‘friendly and familiar face’ for generations of school children come rain or shine.
A spokesperson for the council said: “Holsworthy Town Council would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to Shirley Crane, who is officially retiring this month from her role as the town’s lollipop lady after 25 years of dedicated service.
“For generations of schoolchildren, Shirley has been a friendly and familiar face, helping them safely cross the road come rain or shine. Her warm smile, reliability, and commitment to the safety of Holsworthy’s young people have made her a much-loved figure in our community.
“We are truly grateful for the time, care and energy Shirley has given to this important role, and we know many parents, carers and pupils – past and present – will join us in wishing her a very happy and well-deserved retirement. Thank you, Shirley, for everything you’ve done for Holsworthy.”
