Bude-Stratton Town Council has welcomed its second new Councillor is as many weeks.

Viki Herbert-Coulson joins the Town Council following an uncontested election.

Cllr Herbert-Coulson was born in Cornwall and raised in Bude. Her great grandfather was Bude’s first lifeguard and her grandparents ran the beach café at Summerleaze Beach, before buying the Headland Pavilion.

Cllr Herbert-Coulson’s father, Capt Peter Herbert, was a local shipowner and instrumental in keeping Bude Canal and Harbour as a working port.

Cllr Herbert-Coulson said: “My aims as a councillor are to represent all the people of Bude.

“To try to preserve what is unique about Bude — its charm and its heritage — whilst at the same time trying to ensure that Bude is a thriving town, not just a tourist attraction.”

BSTC welcomes Cllr Herbert-Coulson on board and very much looks forward to working with her.
