THE Christmas tree is in place in Holsworthy after being put up on Sunday, November 27, and is ready for the big switch on in December.
The Holsworthy and District Lions put up the Christmas trees in the town square just as they have done every year since the 1980s.
After the trees had been put up various Lions members stayed on to help mayor Jon Hutchings and the other members of Holsworthy Town Council put up the Christmas lights around the square.
The Christmas lights will be turned on this coming Friday, December 2, at 6.30pm. This year’s lighting up ceremony will be combined with the late night Christmas shopping evening and Christmas market in Holsworthy, as well as a sponsored ‘Santa Run’ on behalf of Children’s Hospice South West.
The Lions have said they will be attending, as always, with their barbecue and soup. Special guest of the evening will be the ‘real’ Santa Claus distributing gifts to the younger children, courtesy of Holsworthy Rotary Club.
