A DEPICTION of Glenn Miller's big band number 'String of Pearls' was the first of 21 stunning floral arrangements to greet visitors to Holsworthy's annual St Peter's Fair Flower Festival at Bodmin St Methodist Church last week, writes Christine Williams. Created by Mary Barfett it celebrated the 30th anniversary of Holsworthy Hamlets Flower Club as well as the pearl anniversary of North Devon Hospice and Holsworthy's Abbeyfield. This year the theme of the festival was ABBA's 'Thank you for the Music', which was played from time to time on the organ, along with other music, by organists Martyn Squire, Andrew Fishley, Gary Holdcroft and Lynn Sullivan. For the full report, and a round up of the area news and sport, see this week's edition of the Post.
