A SUPERMARKET has responded after one of its Cornwall branches has been left without fridges or freezers for more than a week.
On May 7, residents were questioning whether there was an issue with the store after its fridges and freezers were left empty.
With many hoping that this would be a quick fix, the issue remained some days later, with the store’s community champion explaining that the store is ‘waiting for a new receiver to repair the fridges and refrigerators,’ asking residents to ‘please bear with us and apologies for any inconvenience this may be causing’.
Many residents also received an email from the store explaining: “Please note that our fresh and frozen offering are currently unavailable at your local Morrisons Bude store. We are working diligently to restore these services as quickly as possible.”
Now nearly ten days since the issue began, the store continues to be without fridges and freezers, causing a growing frustration among locals, who are being forced to travel further afield for their weekly shop.
The Post reached out to Morrisons for an explanation on the matter, and to see whether customers would be compensated for the issue. However, the store has explained that it is ‘taking the opportunity to freshen up’ the Bude store.
A Morrisons spokesperson told the Post: "Ahead of the busy summer season, we are taking the opportunity to freshen up our Bude store and carry out maintenance work on our fridges and freezers. We apologise for the inconvenience and we are working hard to complete the work as quickly as possible."
