It was truly a multi-generational event at the St Gennys Horticultural Show, with fantastic homegrown produce exhibited by both young and old.

This year the show was opened by Mr John Parnall from Falmouth. It was good to welcome John back to St Gennys, as along with the late Jean, the Parnall family have  continued to be strong supporters of the show. Jemima Tippett presented him with a buttonhole, as part of the welcoming address.

It was especially encouraging to see the number of entries in every class and particularly clotted cream, which has had a welcome resurgence.

In the Any Other Vegetable class we had 19 entries, from garlic to spaghetti squash, although the winner was a stunning rare Cornish Aubergine. This year there were more entries from the children, with some beautiful creative displays.

The many cups, trophies and prizes were presented at the end of the show by Mrs Sheila Swift, the daughter of our late President Mrs Maggie Folly.

It was a fitting end to the day. Cups and Trophy winners were, Kevin Johnson, Kate Holding, Jacky Ure, Chris Martin, Helen Seez, Sharon Northcott, Vic Sell, Jen Cowling, Rachael Crocker, Jean Robb, Janey Comber, Heather Smith, Simon Chandler, Nina  Mcintyre, Pumpkin Crocker, Lowen Crocker and Elizabeth Tilley.

Thanks were expressed to everyone who made it such a special day.
