HOLSWORTHY Football Club’s second team manager, Reece Heywood, recently took his squad to Children’s Hospice South West’s Little Bridge House centre in Fremington near Barnstaple to deliver some Easter eggs.

Their scheduled home game against Haxton Rangers on Saturday, March 24 was cancelled due to the weather, leaving the team with a free afternoon.

However, they decided to do some good as Reece explains.

He said: “It was about giving the kids an enjoyable Easter and providing them with some gifts to keep their spirits high.

“We chose [the hospice] because it’s the closest children’s charity to the football club and we like to give back to the local area as much as we can.

“The players had a great time, they really enjoyed spending the time with the kids and everyone had a lovely day. It’s definitely something we’re looking at doing again more often in the future.

“The next step will hopefully be working on a charity match at the club against a Plymouth Argyle legends team on bank holiday Monday in August with all proceeds from the match going to the hospice.”
