BRINGING a smile to many faces, the three-year-old ‘triplet farmers’ from Holsworthy have gained fame on social media after their recent ‘photoshoot’.

The image that grabbed the public’s attention was taken by the triplet’s mother Serena Colwill. It shows the triplets, Harry, Harley and Isabella with three, two-day-old, Romney cross Suffolk ewe lambs on their family farm in Holsworthy, ‘Merryfield Farm’.

Serena said of the fame her young farming triplets have received: “I have always taken a lot of photos of the triplets to record memories and to post on Facebook to show friends and family what we have been up to. Most recently I have set up an Instagram account to show everyone farm life in the eyes of a toddler — times three.

“Two hundred and ten likes were received for the photo on my personal Facebook page but the photo can be found on Holsworthy Moan and Groan page, as well as a triplet page where it gained another 289 likes.”

Serena explained that the family farm, where the photograph was taken, was set up from scratch just over a year ago. She said: “We live on a Devon County Council starter farm. In December 2015 we were given the opportunity to farm this 70-acre farm after going through an interviewing process. We started from scratch just over a year ago and feel very lucky to have been given such a great chance.”

Serena added that the triplets are no strangers to helping out on the family farm and that it is not a rare sight for them to be getting hands on with the lambs and other livestock. She said: “Harry, Isabella and Harley are on the farm most days. My husband (their ‘Daddy’) [Michael Colwill] works on a dairy farm for half of the week so we are left in charge and when my husband is at home it’s family time on the farm.”

Explaining how the triplets help out on the farm, Serena said: “We have 150 sheep, 90 bullocks, five chickens, three pigs and a dog. The children love to help out on the farm, feeding course mix to the bullocks, loading silage in their toy tractors to feed the animals, filling water buckets, making milk for the lambs and calves, cleaning up the yard — they each own apprentice brushes, forks and spades — and picking up the eggs.”

Serena added: “The children are aware and join in with all aspects of farm like including selling our finished lambs at Holsworthy Market, where we are regular faces.

“The triplets also love to watch ‘Daddy’ (Michael Colwill) and ‘Uncle Alex’ (Alex Colwill) carrying out their tractor work throughout the year for our other family business ‘Colwill Agri Contacts’.”

The triplets will continue to help out on the family farm and hope to bring more smiles to the public with their ‘antics’. To see more pictures of the triplet farmers in action visit their Instagram page @tripletfarmers
