HIGHAMPTON Primary School has been celebrating the end of a very successful term.

There was great excitement at the Devon County Show in May, when the school was awarded the Primary Times Challenge Shield for their artwork.

The children’s entries were on display at the show with two children winning individual first prizes for their work.

Following a visit to Paignton Zoo earlier in the term, all the children helped to decorate a full sized baby rhino as part of the zoo’s sponsorship programme to save endangered species.

The rhino will be going on public display for the summer at a location in South Devon before returning to school in the autumn term.

The Year 6 children also organised a pet show at the school during the last week of term, where the children brought along a wide range of pets from home.

This event raised a fantastic sum of £135.91 for their chosen charity, Help for Heroes.

On the last day of term, the children visited RHS Garden Rosemoor, where they could view the After School Technology Club’s winning entry into the KS2 competition to design an International Space Station.
