PUBS in Holsworthy went head to head, not for the finest brew, but to take home the annual rugby day trophy. Both men and ladies from the White Hart Hotel, Crown and Sceptre, Rydon Inn, and Bradworthy Inn battled it out in their respective heats, including egg catching (or splattering), lorry pull and the ultimate rugby/tag rugby matches. Jon Hutchings, landlord of the White Hart Hotel, said: "It was a great day with some great rugby — some of the hardest tackles I've ever seen at the event! "Considering the majority of people taking part are not regular rugby players the standard of play was very high."
