THE Bradworthy Parish Hall committee was delighted when it was announced the Big Lottery Fund would be putting £1,063 towards the installation a ‘hearing loop’ in the parish hall.

The new hearing loop installation was completed on Tuesday, January 9.

The committee chairman, Ken Hawkins, expressed his thanks to Pam Brewer, who had applied for and won the grant money from the Big Lottery Fund. He said: “Thanks to Pam Brewer, who applied for and won, a grant from the Big Lottery Fund, a new hearing loop has been installed in Bradworthy Hall.

“This is a great asset for anyone using a hearing aid.”

The hearing loop is a sound system that boosts the signal in a hearing aid to help focus on a particular sound, for example a person talking. The ‘T’ setting on the hearing aid programme switch, is typical for selecting the loop function and will benefit those visiting the hall for future events.

The hearing loop system is widely used in banks, supermarkets and theatres and will now benefit the hall’s visitors.

Mr Hawkin added: “Whenever an event takes place in the hall — quiz nights, weddings, parties, discos, darts and skittles competitions — the loop will be available via the halls audio system.”
