HARPERS Feeds, the Holsworthy based feed compounder and part of the national Massey Harpers Group has appointed Andrew Davies to the new position of operations director.

A farmer’s son, Andrew took a National Diploma at Bicton College of Agriculture, followed by an HND at Seale Hayne College.

Before joining Harpers he had worked on a variety of farms in the area and sold dairy chemicals for Cowcare.

Andrew joined Harpers in 2002 and has worked in the Transport and Raw Materials departments. His main responsibilities were purchasing raw materials, formulating and pricing rations. He was part of a team planning and overseeing production and transport. He is also a member of the British Corn & Feed Trade Association council.

Andrew and his wife Lorraine also manage a poultry business with 6,000 British black tailed free range layers.

Harpers Feeds manufacture a range of ruminant and monogastric feeds, produce 150,000 tonnes of compounds and mixes annually, trading across the South West.

Managing director Kynan Massey said: “Andrew has extensive knowledge of the industry and has developed expertise which will strengthen the board and prove invaluable as we look to grow the business in a challenging economic environment.”
