A MOTORCYCLIST who has raised more than £84k for charities is revving up for his latest expedition.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Penlee Lifeboat disaster – a tragedy that claimed the lives of the eight crew of The Solomon Browne and those they tried valiantly to save from the stricken Union Star cargo ship.

Friends Stuart Morrissey and Paul Brady will be setting off from Dartmouth tomorrow (September 2) to visit all the RNLI stations in Devon and Cornwall over four days.

Their stops will include the old lifeboat station at Mousehole, from where Penlee boat The Solomon Browne was launched.

In the biking world, disabled rider Stuart is known as The Madrider1961 and to date, he has raised £84,000 for UK based charities. He’ll be riding a Honda CBF125cc during the RNLI charity trip and Paul will be riding a 600cc motorbike.

Mike Herron has offered the use of his Landrover as support vehicle, and Michael Roberts will be filming for a documentary.

“We feel it is time to start helping the RNLI bring back the needed funds to keep folk safe,” said Stuart.

“Our overnight stops have been kindly donated – thanks to both the Top House Inn and the Pity Me Inn.”

You can meet the two riders in Bude on Saturday - and they’ll be in Looe and Fowey tomorrow (Thursday)
