In true Delabole community spirit the preparations for this year’s carnival are well under way.

The committee have a fantastic week of events planned, all taking place at the carnival marquee on the village playing fields. Along with free entry it promises to be another fun week leading up to the grand procession on Saturday, July 15, at 7pm with a disco from 9pm.

The carnival week starts on Saturday, July 8, with “The Harry Peanut Show” starting at 8.30pm. Sunday, July 9, sees the united village service at 10.30am followed by the crowning of this year’s carnival royalty.

A dog show will take place in the fair field between 1pm till 2.30pm along with the emergency services display, car boot and classic car show starting at 2pm. There will be a Magic Martin Show and games from 2.30pm to 4pm and finishes with the ever popular Delabole carnival quiz at 7pm.

Monday, July 10, is bingo night, eyes down for 7.30pm.

Tuesday, July 11, will host a coffee morning and craftstall from 10am to noon. The evening sees Callum Flew with two performances from 7pm to 8pm and 9pm to 10pm with Mr Eerius the Magician from 8pm to 9pm.

Wednesday, July 12, the motorcycle run will meet from 6pm and depart at 6.30pm and from 8pm Ed Sheeran and George Ezra tribute acts take place.

Thursday, July 13, from noon, there will be a pasty lunch with an exhibition of local photographs. Then back by great demand from 8pm Johnny Cowling takes to the stage to give some great entertainment.

The week will be rounded off on Friday, July 14, at 6pm with the annual beer festival taking place with music starting at 8.30pm from Blue Slate.
