A LOCAL business is doing its part to support some of Cornwall’s future footballing prodigies with its sponsorship.

Bude Girls Under-10s are turning heads for a number of net-busting reasons, after a dramatic upturn in results coincided with a £500 donation from ETB towards a new kit.

Coached by Sophie Calienda, the squad has developed beyond recognition over the past two seasons, growing in confidence, ability and a sense of togetherness. While their first campaign provided a number of challenges against strong opposition, the girls have turned a corner, winning the majority of their fixtures and building real momentum.

Sophie, who has played a key role in guiding the team’s progress, said: “It’s been so rewarding to see how far the girls have come in such a short space of time. From those early games to where they are now, the improvement has been incredible; not just in their football, but in their confidence levels too.

“The new kit means a huge amount to us. Having the support of ETB has given the girls a real boost, not just in how they look, but how they feel when they step onto the pitch. They’re so proud to wear the kit, and you can see the confidence it’s given them.”

Andy McFadden, master technician at ETB Bude said: “These girls are a brilliant example of what grassroots football is all about. They’ve shown resilience, teamwork and a real passion to improve. Their journey shows that it’s not always about results in the early stages, but about development and enjoyment, and we’re right behind them!

“Seeing the impact that our donation has had on the girls is exactly what our ‘We Care’ philosophy is all about. It’s not just about providing a kit, but about supporting local teams, building confidence and helping young players enjoy their football.”
