THE Year 8 students at Holsworthy Community College held their annual charity day on Thursday, March 16.

The students had been organising a series of fundraising events during their ‘Life Skills’ lessons over the past few weeks.

The college had been adorned with numerous posters advertising the groups’ events and thankfully on the day the sun shone, allowing the outdoor events to successfully take place.

The events ranged from sweet and cake stalls to ice cream and hot chocolate stalls.

Jayden and Davey, two pupils, were lucky enough to receive make-overs, with people paying 20p a time to apply it.

Treasure hunts, ‘what’s in the box’, and ‘how many sweets’ stands were crammed in under the shelter.

Josh Brown bravely stood in the stocks to face water sponges and buckets of water.

The MUGA hosted numerous footballing activities, including kick a ball through a hoop, which was ably demonstrated by Mr Foster, a crossbar challenge and even an activity where participants were spun around before taking a shot at the goal.

In usual HCC style, the students threw themselves wholeheartedly into their activities to raise as much money as possible for the House Charities; Help for Heroes, North Devon Hospice and Cancer Research.

Thanks were extended to all those who participated and donated.
