THE Year 11 Prom committee at Holsworthy Community College has been busy trying to raise funds for their Prom, which will be held in July at the Falcon, and the committee has tried to be imaginative with its fundraising ideas.
Last Monday the committee held a cake and hot chocolate stand, which raised enough money to pay for the arch of balloons, which stands on the red carpet outside the hotel.
Last Tuesday the committee managed to persuade five male teachers to have their legs waxed!
A crowd of spectators paid to watch the teachers undergo their torture. Some brave Year 11 boys then also volunteered for the girls’ waxing treatment!
Thanks were expressed to Mr Hosie, Mr Shears, Mr Woolnough, Mr Scott and Mr Lovett.
Last Wednesday the girls organised a ‘pie in the face of the teacher’ event. Students could pay 50p to put a plate of cream in the face of a teacher, who was trapped in the stocks. This was surprisingly popular!
No events took place last Thursday as it was the annual Year 8 Charity Day.
Last Friday saw another cake and hot chocolate stall, while on Friday after school there was a fancy dress ‘netballathon’ on the multi use games area.
