A TOWN council has confirmed that it has relocated its office in the town for up to a year.

Presently based at The Manor Offices, Holsworthy Town Council’s relocation is required as part of a six-figure scheme to refurbish and renovate the building, which is owned by Torridge District Council.

It will now be located in the Market Chambers located on The Square in the town for a period of between seven to twelve months in length.

Approximately £723,000 is to be spent on the works to the Manor Offices, funding of which has been allocated from a multi-million government grant for schemes in the Torridge area — the scheme that includes creating the infrastructure which it is intended to facilitate the construction of a proposed Holsworthy ‘agri-business centre’.

Proposed items of work at Manor Offices will include: refurbishment/replacement of windows and external doors; internal refurbishment and alterations, including new reception, external redecoration, intercom system for improved access and security, roof repairs/replacement including to fascias/bargeboards and rainwater goods, safety improvements to guarding around internal staircase, installation of photovoltaic panels with inverter and batteries and a fibre data upgrade”

The portion of the building occupied by the Holsworthy Museum is not subject to the refurbishment scheme and will remain open to the public at its present location.

Confirming the relocation to the Market Chambers for the duration of the refurbishment, a spokesperson for Holsworthy Town Council said: Holsworthy Town Council will be temporarily relocating offices to the Market Chambers, The Square, Holsworthy, EX22 6DL.
