THE successful holding of the celebrated Holsworthy Carnival has been hailed as a resounding success by a proud town mayor.

Cllr Jon Hutchings said that his anticipation for the event, which he described as one of his favourite in the town, was matched by a successful event that ‘certainly did not disappoint’, adding that it might well be the best event held yet.

It comes after the event had a record number of entries as the community engaged with the event in even larger numbers than usual.

Cllr Hutchings said: “The carnival day is one of my favourites in Holsworthy and this year certainly didn't disappoint. With a record number of entries, a dry evening and not too cold it was a fantastic carnival.

“The standard of floats was great and overall, it was a fantastic carnival, maybe even the best yet! I’d like to say a huge thank you to all the volunteers who make it possible.”

A spokesperson for the Holsworthy Carnival committee added: “Events like this are only possible thanks to the many volunteers who help bring everything together, along with the Town Council, who have been instrumental this year in supporting the setup. A huge thank you to all of them.

“It was also great to have our emergency services in attendance. They have once again been incredible in helping to keep everyone safe, and we are very grateful for their support.

“As we look ahead to 2026, the planning process will begin again in a couple of months. One of our biggest challenges is securing enough funding to make the event possible.

“If you are able to, please consider making a small donation at the link on the Holsworthy Carnival Facebook page. Any amount would be greatly appreciated and will help us put on next year’s carnival for you all.”
