THE Holsworthy Bowling Club pavilion has been restored following last year's arson attack.
In October 2008 the club's pavilion was subject to an arson attack. Even though the pavilion was extensively damaged it could have been much worse. Thanks to the club's good neighbours and the Fire Service bringing the blaze quickly under control the damage was contained to one end of the building.
Graham Norman, secretary of the club said: "Thank you both for your vigilance and excellent timely service."
Thanks to excellent services provided by J E Stacey & Co Ltd, E J Wade & Son, Diamond Cleaning and club members the pavilion has been restored and is now as good as new and back in use.
The short mat bowling section programme was severely disrupted which resulted in a considerable loss of revenue to club funds during the four month closure. Alternative venues had to be found and rented for the home matches. But true to the spirit of the club they coped.
The outdoor season will open on April 18 and the club are keeping their fingers crossed that the weather will be much better this year.
The club welcomes new members, young and not so young, experienced or novice. There are a number of open days during the summer season where you can try your hand at bowling. Coaching is always available by arrangement or by attending open sessions.
Fees are inexpensive considering that unlimited access to the club facilities is available throughout the year. So if you are interested in joining this friendly club please contact the secretary Graham Norman on 01288 381707.
Details of club events are advertised in the club notice box in Holsworthy Square.
Graham said: "Finally thank you to all who played a part in the restoration of the pavilion."
