WITH the news that the community hospital inpatient beds in Holsworthy are to be re-opened, the NEW Devon CCG (Northern, Eastern and Western Devon Clinical Commissioning Group) want to ensure the public are aware of the other services still available at the hospital.
Services include: Audiology (adults and children); Bladder and bowel; Cardiac nurse; Cardiology; Cardiac rehab; Care of the elderly; Chronic kidney disease; Diabetes (adults and children); Diabetes nurse; Depression and anxiety service; Family planning; General medicine; General surgery; Genitourinary medicine (sexual health); Midwives; Multiple sclerosis (MS) service; Nephrology; Occupational health; Orthoptic (children); Oxygen clinic; Paediatric; Parkinson’s service; Podiatry; Psychiatry; Renal unit; Retinal screening; Rheumatology; Speech and language therapy (adults and children); Tissue viability; and Urology.
A number of other services are also provided on an ad-hoc basis and the Day Case unit remains operational.
Currently, there are 37 people working in the Holsworthy community at any one time caring for around 200 patients.
In addition, the hospital is used for a number of health-related activities/groups, including: Stroke Club; Forward and Beyond (health and wellbeing); Macular Society; Sight Loss Adviser; Memory matters group (dementia); Carer assessment; Cornwall Mobility; TorrAGE (elderly health and wellbeing); Holsworthy Forum; Parkinson’s support group; and Reflexology.
