COMMUNITIES throughout the Post area sat down for a cup of tea and a slice of cake last week, to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.

The event is the charity’s biggest fundraising event. This year 185,000 people registered to take part, including over 350 international hosts.

It is hoped that the event will raise more than £27-million for people facing cancer.

Sian Ward-Edwards, Macmillan Cancer Support fundraising manager for Plymouth, North Devon and Tamar Valley, said: “World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is always a great day! Bringing people together for tea and cake is such a fun and easy way to raise money to help people with cancer. Our team gets out to some of the events in the local area to say thanks and by the end of the day we are full of cake!

“It is such an important event for us as it raises much-needed funds for local services to support people affected by cancer. We want to say a huge thanks to everyone that got involved this year!

“The need for Macmillan is growing as more people are living with cancer in the long-term and need our support. We rely on support from the local community to help raise funds and all the money raised will make a difference.”
