One of the region’s major public transport providers has announced a swathe of changes set to be introduced to its bus network.
Stagecoach has revealed a series of new and revised services, set to come into force across the network from Sunday, August 30.
The package of changes to bus services comes with the aim of improving reliability and punctuality, responding to changing customer demand, providing new journey opportunities and improving connections between services.
The changes include new and amended routes, revised frequencies, seasonal timetable changes, with a small number of services replaced by alternative services.
Across Cornwall, around 30 routes are set to see revisions as part of the scheme.
Stagecoach has said: “Customers are advised to check the new timetable before travelling, particularly where routes are changing or services are being withdrawn.”
Below is all of the information you need to know to stay up to date with the changes coming to Cornwall later this month:
Service 2 – Saltash – Mount Batten via City Centre
Timetable changes will improve reliability and punctuality.
Service 6 – Okehampton – Bude
Journeys will now be operated by single decker vehicles, provided capacity that better reflects customer demand, facilitate a minor route change and to use more fuel efficient vehicles.
The route will be amended in Holsworthy to operate a more direct route via Chapel Street instead of operating via Underlane and Bodmin Street.
There are some minor timing changes as a result of the aforementioned route change and to improve the robustness of rail connections at Okehampton.
Service 170 – Plymouth – Callywith College
In Liskeard, the route is streamlined, with Services 172 and 179 continuing to serve more of Liskeard.
The route will also be amended to serve Dobwalls in place of Service 172, which will now operate a more direct route.
A new lunchtime journey at 12.50pm will operate from Callywith College to Plymouth via Liskeard, providing a number of new journey opportunities.
Service 171 – Trerulefoot – Callywith College
The route will be amended to no longer serve Seaton and Downderry, with the service starting and terminating at Trerulefoot, which ensures a more suitable route is followed.
In Looe, the route will be amended to no longer serve West Looe Fire Station, allowing for a more direct route to be followed.
Service 172 – Torpoint – Callywith College
There will be a minor change to the route to no longer serve Dobwalls, which will provide a more direct route, however, Service 170 will serve Dobwalls.
Service 174 – Pensilva – Callywith College
The route will be amended to start and terminate at Victoria Inn at Pensilva and will no longer serve Callington and St Ive.
Additional journeys will operate between Callywith College and Bodmin Parkway Railway Station.
The current 1.35pm journey from Callywith College to Liskeard will no longer operate, however, will be replaced by a new journey on Service 170 and additional journeys on Service 174.
Service 176 – Callington – Callywith College
The service will no longer start and terminate in Okehampton and will instead start and terminate in Callington, to coincide with changes to Service 179.
The 1.35pm lunchtime journey from Callywith College to Camelford will no longer operate.
Service 177 – Holsworthy – Callywith College
There is a minor route change within Launceston to serve the hospital, operating via the link road and Hurdon Road.
The 1.55pm lunchtime journey from Callywith College to Launceston will depart at 12.50.
Service 178 – Bude – Callywith College
Minor timetable changes will improve reliability and punctuality.
Service 179 – Tavistock – Callywith College
There will be no change between Tavistock and Callington.
The route will then operate via Liskeard and the A38 to Callywith College, rather than Launceston and the A30.
Service 180 – Kilkhampton – Callywith College
Minor timetable changes will improve reliability and punctuality.
Service 181 – Otterham – Callywith College
There is an amendment to the route in the Wadebridge area, with the service operating a more direct route via the A389, allowing for reduced journey times for those travelling from the coast.
New lunchtime journey at 12.50pm from Callywith College to Wadebridge, providing an alternative for Service 176.
Service 183 – St Merryn / Padstow – Callywith College
The route will be amended in Bodmin, operating a more direct route via Dennison Road as opposed to Beacon Road.
Journey times are reduced for the majority of customers, partly due to reducing dwell time at Wadebridge Bus Station.
Service 184 – Pipers Pool – Callywith College
The route will be amended to no longer serve Port Issac and will instead commence at Pipers Pool operating via Hallworthy, Davidstow and Delabole.
The route will also be sped up no longer serving Wadebridge Bus Station, which also sees the removal of the current excessive dwell time in Wadebridge, providing much improved journey times.
Service 185 – Newquay – Callywith College
The route will no longer operate via the Bodmin Bypass.
It will instead serve Bodmin via Lanivet, St Lawrence and Bodmin General Station, providing a replacement for Service 183.
Service 186 – Mevagissey – Callywith College
The service will no longer serve Gorran Haven and will instead start and terminate at Mevagissey.
Service 187 – Fowey – Callywith College
Minor timetable changes will improve reliability and punctuality.
Service 188 – St Stephen / St Austell – Callywith College
There will be a minor route alteration in St Austell due to long term roadworks at Trinity Street, with the service operating via Penwinnick Road.
The 1.55pm lunchtime journey from Callywith College to St Austell will depart at 12.50pm and is extended to St Blazey.
Service 189 – Biscovey – Callywith College
Minor timetable changes to improve reliability and punctuality.
The route is amended in the Bodmin area to operate a more direct route via the Bodmin Bypass.
Service CC1 – Penzance – Cornwall College Camborne / Duchy College Rosewarne
Minor timetable changes to improve reliability and punctuality.
Route curtailed to start and terminate at Penzance Bus Station, with the section of route between Pendeen and Penzance no longer served.
Customers wishing to travel between Pendeen and Penzance are able to make this journey using Go Cornwall services.
Route also amended to serve more of Camborne and will provide connections with Great Western Railway services to and from Truro.
A revised timetable will operate for journeys to and from Duchy College Rosewarne.
Services DC1, DC4, DC5, DC6, DC7 and DC8
Minor timetable changes will improve reliability and punctuality.
- DC1: Tavistock – Duchy College Stoke Climsland.
- DC4: St Blazey – Duchy College Stoke Climsland.
- DC5: Looe – Duchy College Stoke Climsland.
- DC6: Plympton – Duchy College Stoke Climsland.
- DC7: Pomphlett – Duchy College Stoke Climsland.
- DC8: Wadebridge – Duchy College Stoke Climsland.
Service ROS-012
Minor timetable changes to improve reliability and punctuality.
There will be a minor route alteration in St Austell due to long term roadworks at Trinity Street, with the service operating via Penwinnick Road.
Service SA1 – Launceston – Cornwall College St Austell
Route extended beyond Camelford to start and finish in Launceston in response to increased demand for travel to and from Launceston.
Route also amended to serve Wadebridge, providing a new direct link to and from St Austell.
Service SA2 – Liskeard – Cornwall College St Austell
Minor timetable changes will improve reliability and punctuality.
Service SA3 – Newquay – Cornwall College St Austell
Minor timetable changes will improve reliability and punctuality.
The route will additionally serve St Columb Major.
