Ten pupils from Year 9 and 10 at Holsworthy Community College went to Germany on April 15 for 10 days as part of the German exchange, writes Zoe Pett, Hattie Oliver and Charlotte Prime.

After a 12-hour journey we finally arrived at our German homes where we met our partner's families and had a fairly relaxed evening.

After an early night (in some cases) we spent the day in the exchange school. As they finish school at 1.05pm we spent the afternoon with our partners. The weather throughout our trip was hot, reaching up to 27°c.

On Friday we had planned to go water skiing, however, after waiting an hour the instructors did not show up, so instead we spent the day with our partners either at home or outside. The water skiing was then rearranged for the following Wednesday after school.

We spent the weekend with the families doing activities, including football, horse riding and shopping. Some students also had the opportunity to go climbing and zip lining, which was great fun.

Monday we spent in the school, taking part in lessons. The school was a lot different to ours because of the age range of the students. This is because you have to pass the class to graduate.

On Tuesday we went to Phantasialand, which was amazing. The water rides managed to soak Zoe, Brandon and Mrs Storry, but left the others dry.

After spending another day in the school on Wednesday, we then went to Frankfurt on Thursday where we went up to the top of the Main Tower, where you could see Frankfurt. We also spent the rest of the day shopping in Frankfurt.

On Friday, our last day, we spent half a day in the exchange school, before saying goodbye, where most people cried as we left for the airport. We then arrived back in Holsworthy at 12:30am.

The trip was thoroughly enjoyable and an unforgettable experience where everyone made new friends that we hope to keep in contact with.
