WE ARE really excited for the penultimate event in what has been a really tremendous free family activities summer that is predominantly organised by Bodmin Town Council – with an equally important shout to KBSK who also organised a tremendous community event earlier in August.

There’s much to look forward to and NCB Radio is going to be there, providing the music and PA for the event.

But what is Fusion X? Contrary to its title, it isn’t a secret trim level of a now-discontinued Ford vehicle, but it is short for Fusion Extreme, who will be using their professional BMX, skateboard and scooter riding displays to bring excitement to Bodmin Skate Park.

It’s not just an event to stand and watch, with a strong degree of interaction but an event that accommodates most skill levels. As well as their displays, there are workshops and the chance to get involved.

Accompanying that is a range of events being held at the adjacent building run by KBSK, known as The Space.

For young people, there will be a skate tattoo station, a free mini finger-skateboard for every child, skateboard related colouring competition, the opportunity to design your own skateboard deck to win one of three decks featuring the design and also refreshments from The Space café.

Now, as all three of our regular listeners will attest to, the vast majority of our team are of an age where skateboarding is not a bright idea, even if we could do it. We’re more likely to be a Bernard Simpson than a Bart Simpson.

So why are we particularly excited? Because last year’s event, which we also provided the music for was a tremendous success and this year we’re building on that by unleashing our not so secret weapon, Vincent Vega.

The man, the myth, the legend himself will be leading the music at the event this year, bringing a vast array of fresh beats and top sounds as we bid to provide the perfect soundtrack to what is set to be an excellent event.

It is held on Saturday, August 22, from 11am until 3pm at the Bodmin Skate Park.

As with all the events across this summer, there is free parking all day in the Bodmin Town Council car park at Priory Park and don’t forget beyond the Fusion X event there’s plenty to see and do in Bodmin.

The final event of the summer of free fun will be on Saturday, August 29, with a day of family movies in the park.

There will be three films on this year’s roster after they won a vote that was placed on the Bodmin Town Council Facebook page.

These are the 2026 film Goat (PG), the 2025 film Wicked: For Good (PG) and the 2025 Spongebob Squarepants movie the search for squarepants (PG).

The event will take place from 11pm until 6pm in Priory Park with refreshments and other amenities available.

Showtimes for the three films will be confirmed closer to the time.
