PLANS for a commemoration service in Bude have been revealed ahead of the 80th anniversary of Victory over Japan Day (VJ).
Bude-Stratton Town Council has announced that it will host a service of commemoration on Friday, August 15, to mark the 80th anniversary of VJ Day, which signalled the end of the Second World War.
The service will take place at the Bude War Memorial on Shalder Hill, beginning at 10.50am, led by Deacon Debbie Marsh.
A spokesperson from the council explained: “To honour those who served and sacrificed, the Union Flag will be flown from the flagpole on Shalder Hill throughout the day.
“Members of the public are warmly invited to attend the service and take a moment to reflect on the significance of this historic anniversary.”
