A LOCAL teenager has been found dead in the woods, following a welfare check in Bude.

Devon and Cornwall Police were called to a woodland area in Bude at around 4.25pm yesterday (January 8), following reports of a welfare concern for a young male.

Emergency services attended the scene, where a 15-year-old local boy was pronounced deceased.

A police spokesperson said: “The emergency services attended and despite best efforts, a 15-year-old local boy was pronounced deceased at the scene.

“His next of kin has been informed. The death is not being treated as suspicious.

“A file will be prepared for HM Coroner.”
