THE possibility of re-homing Holsworthy Football Club and selling the site to fund the rejuvenation of Stanhope Park, has been suggested by a steering committee.

Over the past few months members of a town council sub-committee, including representatives of the football club, have been discussing the regeneration of Stanhope Park and football club's future.

Around £100,000 is available for the park project, but in excess of £500,000 is needed. This would include refurbishment and an extension to the pavilion.

Redrow, the housing developer responsible for the old showground site, has agreed to release £75,000 of Section 106 (S106) money by July. This will go towards the pavilion.

Redrow state in the S106 agreement that it will provide a sports pitch and skate park when a specific number of houses are built.
