RESIDENTS are set to be transported back in time for a celebration of all things Cornish history at the annual Bude and Stratton Heritage Festival.

Each year, the North Cornwall towns are transformed for a day of Cornish celebration. Organised by Bude-Stratton Town Council, this popular celebration showcases the heritage of both Bude and Stratton, as well as shining a light on wider Cornish culture.

On July 13, the occasion is set to showcase the past, present and future with a huge variety of exhibits, stalls, free demonstrations, workshops and activities for visitors of all ages and interests to enjoy.

The majority of the events are free to participate and join in with no booking required.

There is plenty for people to get stuck into, including some traditional favourites such as a static vintage steam roller displaye and mechanical organ, plus celebrating the heritage and achievements of Sir Goldsworthy Gurney and exploring the origins of Bude and Stratton street names.

There will also be a variety of community groups exploring the fascinating history of the town.

For the children, there are events on The Castle lawn, inside the marquee and inside The Castle itself.

The event will also offer live music from The Bandstand all day, performances from our local Barrel Morris dancers at Bude Light and some opportunities for you to get involved with some traditional crafting.

Look out for Bude’s own talented dancers with a ballet performance in the marquee at noon and get your fortune read from our local tarot reader!

It has a number of inspiring talks from Dartmoor Herbalist, Jenny Carden, Vicko and the Bude Surf Lifesaving team. And not to be missed, is the community Dog Show at Neetside Lawn from the team at Tamar Vets, raising funds for Bude wildlife.

The event is taking place on July 13 between 11am and 4pm.
