A TENDER process for the management of green spaces in Holsworthy are set to be reissued after councillors raised concerns over the previous award.
Recently released minutes of a confidential section of a recent meeting of Holsworthy Town Council have detailed the concerns of councillors.
Councillors had previously stated that they did not wish to use a particular contractor due to previous history with them and other concerns. However, the same contractor was, it transpired the same one that had been awarded a tender to undertake the work.
Amid these concerns, Holsworthy Town Council approached the Society of Local Council Clerks (SLCC) who told the council that they could either continue with the chosen contractor or reissue the tender and appoint an interim contractor in the meantime.
Councillors discussed the options open to them, with bids for the work being reopened to a new bidding round.
The council resolved the following: “Due to a lack of transparency, restricted suppliers and governance concerns, the council felt it would be in the best interests of the town to inform all three contractors (who previously tendered for the work) that the councillors had voted that the tender process was void and as advised by SLCC, the tender process would be reissued.”
