Launceston College are thoroughly delighted to congratulate all of Year 11 on achieving their GCSE results.
The students have been hugely successful, securing well deserved grades as a result of their amazing efforts, and Thursday, August 25, was a wonderful day to finally celebrate. The resilience and the ability of staff, students and families to cope with the demands of studying through two years of GCSE courses has been absolutely magnificent.
Launceston College principal, Jenn Burn, said: “We are hugely proud of all of our students’ achievements. Today’s results reflect the culmination of five years of dedication and hard work with young people receiving well deserved and positive outcomes that will provide a strong platform for continued success.
“The students have worked so incredibly hard and we applaud the support they have received from their teachers and families. Well done and thank you to everyone who has contributed to ensuring today’s success.”
Special mention goes to Asha Chevannes, the highest achieving student, who was awarded an amazing nine grade 9’s and one grade 8 at GCSE as well as a Distinction* for Level 2 BTEC Business and Enterprise.
Ellie Baugh also achieved really impressive individual results gaining seven grade 9’s at GCSE in maths, English, biology, chemistry, physics, citizenship and Spanish and gained a distinction* in health and child care.
Other high attaining students included Kerry Hillman and Xavier Martin-Williams who both achieved six grade 9’s at GCSE; Kerry achieved them in subjects that included maths, combined science, DT and geography and Xavier achieved grade 9’s in subjects that included maths, English, French and geography. Ella Stephens gained five grade 9’s in combined science, maths, English and Geography and four grade 8’s.
Jenn added: “For students joining Launceston College Sixth Form we look forward to seeing you in September and we are really excited about welcoming you back to College to begin your A levels and your post 16 vocational courses. For students whose journey continues elsewhere we wish you all the very best of luck with your new adventures.
