A YOUNG footballer from Launceston College has been selected to represent the East Cornwall Schools FA Under-15s, marking another milestone in his sporting progress.

Rufus, a student at the college which is part of Athena Learning Trust, has previously played for the Plymouth Argyle Academy and will now compete alongside the top secondary school players from across East Cornwall.

Launceston College supports talented athletes through its Elite Sports Academies, offering specialist coaching, strength and conditioning sessions, and regular competitive opportunities across several sports.

The college benefits from coaching links with organisations including the Cornish Pirates and the Plymouth Argyle Community Trust.

Principal Matthew Thompson said the college was “incredibly proud” of Rufus, adding the academy programme helps students “develop their skills and compete at the highest level locally and beyond.”
