Members described it as a “joy” to see 12 fellow associates of the Coads Green WI again, on the afternoon of Wednesday, May 19, when the combined annual general and Resolutions meetings were held in a field belonging to vice president, Daphne Tucker.

Kathy Reed, a county WI adviser, was also a welcome addition to the group.

The setting was certainly a contrast to the previous meeting, on Zoom, as everyone present enjoyed sitting outside in the afternoon sunshine, enjoying the views of Bodmin Moor.

The committee for the previous twelve months stood again, apart from president Linda Willan. Tributes were paid to Linda for the valuable role that she had played over the last four years and for her hard work and commitment. Members wanted to make a point of acknowledging how much the gift bags, distributed at Christmas and Easter, were appreciated. Former vice president Daphne was voted in as the new president.

The national Resolution to increase the awareness of ovarian cancer had the unanimous support of the group.

There are lots of events to look forward to, on the forthcoming programme of events, both organised by the county and by Coads Green WI. Visiting speakers will be covering a wide range of topics from bees and hedgehogs to Poldark and the Munros of Scotland. In December, there will be an in-house Christmas crafting meeting and Rupert Kirkwood will be making a welcome return in the new year, to show members some of his stunning photographs of sea mammals and wildlife, taken as he has kayaked around the coast.

The afternoon finished with afternoon tea and cakes and an opportunity to catch up.

The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 9, when members will be enjoying refreshments and a walk around Siblyback Lake, from 1.30pm.
