ORGANISERS of the Camelford and District Agricultural Show have said they are looking forward to their grand return after two years of absence.

The show, which is one of the oldest events still in existence returns after two years absence due to bad weather and financial constraints.

With the show set for a return on Wednesday, August 13, those behind its organisation say that they are confident that this year’s event will be an ‘extra special show’ for local, visitors, competitors and friends of the event alike.

It promises to offer something for all of the family and among the litany of categories and the end of the show will see an after-show party from local comedian and broadcaster, Johnny Cowling.

A spokesperson for the organisers said: “The 117th Camelford and District agricultural show, is one of the oldest shows still in existence is back after a short break due to bad weather and cancellation due to financial constraints.

“It’s been a challenging couple years, but this year we are delighted to present an extra special show, to locals, visitors, competitors and friends of the show.

“We can’t thank everyone enough for their support in fundraising over the last year to get the agricultural show back on track.

“The day will be filled with delights in the entertainment ring all day along with all the prestigious live stock awards up for grabs from the best of the best in our local farming community,

“The handicraft section marquee full of homemade and grown items showcasing the talents of the area with an array of silverware to be won. The horse section has a time table full of events with all the traditional competition classes, and long-standing titles and Awards.

“There will also be a shearing competitions, the fun fair, magic show vintage, Fun dog show, and lots of local crafts and food to make a day out for all the family, and an after-show party with Johnny Cowling in the beer tent!

“Mr and Mrs Michael and Hillary Coombs, the 2025 presidents, will officially open the show at 8:30am on Wednesday, August 13, which will be held at Trevilla Farm, Marshgate, by kind permission of Mr and Mrs David and Pam Langley,

“The Camelford show, brings town and country together to celebrate the best our county and area can offer with a very warm welcome to all.

“The Camelford show has a top table of ladies in office this year. Our chairman is Jackie Burnard, our vice chair -is Elaine Reynolds, our secretary is Jo Sanders and treasurer is Edwina Broad along with a board of directors and a very committed head of sections and committee members.

“We will bring you a great show and family day out, all we need is good weather and the rest will follow!

There will also be a free bus service in operation from Clease Road in Camelford which is kindly sponsored by Camelford Town Council, with the bus service taking people up to the show field and returning back into the town.”
