With the Easter holidays just starting there is an opportunity for children aged four to twelve to attend an introduction to bush-craft and basic survival skills in the beautiful setting of Cookworthy Forest just outside Holsworthy.

A forest ranger will teach them how to light a fire using natural tinder, to build shelters and use hand tools followed by a hot drink and toasted marshmallows. The sessions are next Tuesday, April 7 and have been organised as part of the Forestry Commission's Active Woods campaign, which promotes the vast range of health, education and fitness opportunities offered by Britain's woodlands.

The first session from 10am to 12pm is suitable for children aged four to eight years; the second session from 1.30pm to 3.30pm for children aged eight to 12 years. The cost is £6 per child, with accompanying adults going free. To book, phone: 01392 834233.
