HATHERLEIGH held its 108th carnival on Saturday (November 12), when nearly 5,000 people lined the streets for the occasion.

With 24 evening entries and dry weather on the horizon, the carnival was set to be an enjoyable evening for all.

The afternoon procession saw nearly 20 entries sway through the town from Claremont Place to the Market, ready to watch the royalty, Queen Hannah Anstey, Prince Zak Spears and Princess Amy Connor get crowned.

President, Syd Newcombe, was unable to attend the carnival after becoming ill that morning, but his nephew, Steven Brock, stepped in on his behalf to crown the royalty.

The queen's tableaux released four doves in memory of Marie Daniel, who was a much loved carnival supporter. Three doves were release first, representing the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, shortly followed by the fourth dove representing Marie.
