RESIDENTS and staff of Burdon Grange Care home took part in a 24-hour fancy dress for the appeal.

Throughout the day groups of staff and residents went out to raise funds and were supported by Waitrose in Okehampton, Homeleigh Garden Centre and Morrisons at Bude.

This year's total of £888.84 surpassed all previous efforts.

The first group out was led by Robin Hood, assisted by two 'Wonder Women' and a Gypsy and including a Mexican, A Liverpool footballer, A penguin, an Egyptian Goddess and a Cat Woman.

They headed to Homeleigh Garden Centre where thanks were extended to everyone who made them so welcome.

The next destination was Morrisons. Two further groups (AM and PM) were supported by staff and customers at Okehampton Waitrose. This time, Banana Man, Wonder Woman, Cat Woman, Little Red Riding Hood and Robin with a Cat, 'Deal or no Deal', Shirley Bassey, a cat, farmer and a footballer gratefully accepted the donations.
