CHILSWORTHY Village Hall Fete — held to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the opening of the hall — enjoyed a sunny afternoon.
Mrs Marjorie Davey and Mrs Betty Oke performed the opening ceremony, organised by Mr John Sherman and the hall committee.
All stalls did a roaring trade, with a wonderful fruit, vegetable and flower show organised by Mick and Doreen Whittingham being well supported. A wheelbarrow competition attracted much interest, as well as tug o'war, children's fancy dress, face painting, and lucky dip. Furthermore, the knobbly knee contest heralded much laughter!
The archery proved very popular, as did the coconut shy, the netball goal shooting, and the stocks, with many taking part and getting very, very wet!
Inside the hall were photographic displays from the chapel, parish council and the village hall.
Cream teas and a barbecue were served all afternoon and thoroughly enjoyed by all.
Although the total raised is not yet known, all the proceeds will be divided between the village hall and Children's Hospice South West.
See this week's 'Post' for more photos from the event.
