POLICE have launched an appeal for information after an elderly woman was left with serious injuries after a road traffic collision in Launceston.

Emergency services were called to reports of a collision on Wednesday (September 17) morning between a black Volkswagen Golf and an 85 year-old woman on Link Road in the town, near to the Western Road roundabout.

It is reported that the woman, a local to Launceston sustained what police are describing as ‘serious injuries’ and was taken to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth.

The incident led to the road being closed for more than five hours as an investigation into the incident was launched with an examination of the scene.

As part of their investigations, Devon and Cornwall Police’s road policing team are asking for any witnesses who have relevant information or dash cam footage that can assist with their enquiries to come forward either by sending a message using the Devon and Cornwall Police website or by calling 101, quoting reference 50250241956.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “Officers are seeking witnesses after a female pedestrian was seriously injured in a collision in Launceston on Wednesday, September 17.

“Emergency services were called at 11.35am following the collision between a black Volkswagen Golf and an 85 year-old woman on Link Road near Western Road Roundabout.

“The woman from Launceston sustained serious injuries and was taken to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth.

“The road was closed for more than five hours for investigative work and an examination of the scene.

“Roads policing officers are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision and appealing for witnesses to get in touch.

“Anyone with any relevant information or dash cam footage is asked to contact police via our website or by calling 101, quoting reference 50250241956.”
