FIRE crews in Launceston were called into action this week after a barn caught alight.

On the morning on Monday, January 26, both appliances from Launceston Community Fire Station were mobilised following reports of a barn fire in the area.

On arrival, crews discovered a barn with smouldering bales after two small pieces of machinery inside had caught alight.

The crews used two hose reel jets and two sets of breathing apparatus in order to extinguish the fire.

A spokesperson from Launceston Community Fire Station said: “Thankfully this incident turned out the way it did as it could have been a whole lot worse.

“All cattle were safe on arrival.”
