A DRIVER from Launceston has been arrested on suspicion of driving while unfit after crashing into a tree on the A388.

Police were called at 7.20pm on Sunday, December 14, following reports of a traffic collision on the A388 at Wooda Bridge, Lezant.

Police arrived to find a car had collided with a tree along the stretch.

A spokesperson from Devon and Cornwall Police said: “The driver was checked over by ambulance and taken to Derriford Hospital.”

The force has confirmed that the individual sustained no serious injuries following the incident.

The driver, a man in his 20s from Launceston was arrested on suspicion of driving while unfit through drink and driving a motor vehicle with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above the specified limit.

He remains in police custody.
