THE region’s firefighters came to the rescue this week after a vehicle was left stranded in flood water.

Fire crews from Launceston and Bude were called into action on January 20, following reports that a vehicle in Launceston had become stuck in floodwater as a result of heavy rain across the area.

Following the call, one pumping appliance from Launceston along with a water rescue unit from Bude responded to this incident.

A spokesperson from Cornwall Fire and Rescue explained: “On arrival a car in flood water was discovered.”

The vehicle’s passengers were also assisted by the crews.

The spokesperson continued: “Firefighters assisted the occupants to leave the vehicle and to make the scene safe.”
