LAUNCESTON will start and finish their Regional One South West campaign against promoted Topsham after the new league fixtures were announced.
The All Blacks take on the Devonians, who last year not only eased to the Regional Two South West title, but also secured the double by winning the Regional Two Championship Papa John’s Cup final at Twickenham.
Topsham are set to provide a serious test on the opening day at Polson Bridge on Saturday, September 6.
Launceston are then on their travels as they make the awkward trip to Matson in Gloucester, before Wiltshire-based Marlborough arrive in North Cornwall on September 20.
The All Blacks return to action on October 4 as they head to a Sidmouth side, who did the double on them last term, before a busy month sees them welcome Royal Wootton Bassett and last year’s runners-up Brixham, either side of a Cornish derby at St Austell on October 18.
The final four matches of the first half of the campaign get underway on November 8 with a visit to Chew Valley before a home date with Lydney.
Two of the sides expected to be towards the top end in relegated Devonport Services (November 29, away) and Exmouth (December 6) round off the first half.
Matson come to Cornwall on December 13, before visiting Marlborough a week later.
Like in previous years, with the exception of the opponents being the same on the opening and final days, the fixtures follow the same order.
Launceston restart their campaign on January 10 against Sidmouth before going to Royal Wootton Bassett.
The second Cornish derby of the season against St Austell is on January 31.
With a trip to Topsham the last game of the season on April 11, the preceding two could be huge as they welcome Devonport on March 21 before the always awkward trip to Exmouth a week later.
Launceston Seconds – better known as the Castles – are in Counties Two Cornwall having secured promotion.
Their league season runs until April 25 with 22 games scheduled.
They start with a trip to Liskeard-Looe on September 6 before welcoming Falmouth a week later.
There are no more than three games per month, while the derbies with relegated Bude are set for December 13 and April 11, the latter at home.
