North Devon Football League round-up - Saturday, November 22
MORWENSTOW saw their scheduled fixture in the Premier Division postponed for the second straight week as the Greens look to pull away from trouble.
The village side have found the going somewhat tough since promotion and following the recent withdrawal of North Molton find themselves bottom of the table on just two points from seven games, having lost victories.
They sit six points adrift of 10th-placed Hartland in the 13-team division before heading to high-flying Braunton on Saturday, as side who have lost just one of their opening two games.
Holsworthy Reserves will hope to play their first league game of the month when they visit mid-table AFC Dumnonii, while Hartland, who have secured two victories in recent weeks to climb off the bottom, including at AFC Dumnonii, have the day off.
The top of the table clash between Bideford Reserves and Bradworthy was one of four matches in the Senior Division to fall foul of the weather, but Shebbear United did get their home clash with visiting AFC Dumnonii Reserves played.
However, they will have wished they hadn’t as the Woolacombe-based outfit edged it 1-0 courtesy of Daniel Wright.
The result leaves Sheb on 10 points from 12 outings, but crucially two ahead of Combe Martin Reserves who have played the same number of games.
Shebbear host Bradworthy in the local derby this Saturday (2.30pm).
Intermediate One saw only two of seven fixtures played, the only Post area side being Morwenstow Reserves.
They visited Kingsley Wizards and were in the game at half-time despite trailing 2-1 as Archie Taylor scored.
However, the home side, who scored via David Brown (2), Declan Holmes, Philip Kelly, Tor Wales and sub Liam Astbury, powered on after the restart.
The other game saw second from last Fremington Thirds see off bottom side Northam Lions 3-1.
Putford had the afternoon off from league action as they were due to host Kingsbridge and Kellaton United in the Devon Intermediate Cup.
However, they went through by concession to reach the last 16 where they will visit South Brent on Saturday, January 17.
