Bond Timber Cornwall Cricket League Division Four and Division Five East round-up – Saturday, August 16

WERRINGTON Thirds kept up the pressure on second-placed Duloe with a 75-run victory over relegated Lanhydrock Seconds at Ladycross.

Werrington’s 45-over total of 213-2 was a peculiar affair as it took Paul Miller’s 69 not out from 55 balls got them there.

He added an unbeaten 113 with Tom Petherick (31no), that after openers Nick Ward (54) and Matt Gilmour (18) provided the platform.

Lanhydrock never threatened the target, slipping to 84-9 as Petherick (2-20) and Ben Sonlwy (3-23) shared five wickets before they eventually reached 138 all out.

St Minver Seconds are relegated from Division Five following an nine-wicket hammering by promotion-chasing Buckland Monachorum.

The hosts mustered just 107 all out despite thirties from Steve Hawke (32) and captain Charlie Edwards (37).

The Devonians then knocked it off in just 17.1 overs with Jim Maunder (37) and Ben Berry (52no) doing the damage.

Holsworthy Seconds earned a narrow eight-run success at their Launceston counterparts despite a superb individual performance from Phil Spry.

He took 5-17 from seven overs towards the end as Holsworthy mustered 170-9 with thirties coming from Dan Lucas (30), Jack May (34) and Lewis Chidley (33).

Martin Vanstone took 2-34 while Kieren Welch’s five overs on second team debut cost just 14.

Spry then opened the batting and returned to form by carrying his bat for 66 not out, but nobody else making more than Pete West’s 19 from number seven.

They took the score to 130-5 before West’s departure, and from they slowed to 162-8.

Gunnislake were beaten by six wickets by leaders Wadebridge Thirds at Hawksmoor.

They made 181 all out before the Swans knocked it off with 25 balls to spare.
