BOTH Holsworthy Seconds and their Launceston counterparts were beaten in Division Five on Saturday.

Holsworthy restricted Menheniot-Looe Seconds to 121-9 from their 40 overs, led by fine figures from Ryan Smith (3-24), Ben Hutchings (2-21) and Brodi Wonnacott (3-12 off 4).

Danny Tape made 34, but the Devonians were 61 all out.

Brett Grosvenor (2-32) and Oliver Keates (2-57) shared four wickets in Lanhydrock Seconds’ 191-6, but Launceston slipped to 45-5 before scrambling to 126-8 thanks to Grosvenor (20no) and Ryan Vanstone (18).

Luckett Seconds were dismissed for just 128 at Bugle despite opener Michael Clements’ 30 off just nine balls as the hosts won by eight wickets.

Werrington chairman Adam Paynter and skipper Ian Wills both hit unbeaten half centuries as the fourths won by 10 wickets at Saltash Seconds in Division Six.

Earlier, the Ashes made 215-5 from their 40 overs, but Paynter and Wills finished 95 not out and 81 not out respectively.

Bude Seconds were beaten by 99 runs at St Austell Fourths who posted 226-6 despite Mike Taylor’s 4-41.

The Seasiders mustered just 126 all out as only Michael Taylor (33) and Joe Gliddon (20) made much impression.

Skipper Richard Watson’s 163 not out (28 fours) secured South Petherwin Seconds a seven-wicket success at their Tintagel counterparts.

Earlier, Ben Lane’s rapid 71 not out bookended a total of 258-6 which included thirties from Chris Lovegrove (37), Joe Parsons (35) and Dan Jones (32). Brian Baker took 2-42.

Johnny Knight made 52 not out in Launceston Thirds’ 88 all out at their Roche counterparts in Division Seven. The hosts went on to win by seven wickets.

Dave Colwill (3-29) and Martin Budge (3-35) shared six victims for Luckett Thirds as Boconnoc Seconds made 211-8, before being dismissed for 53 in reply.
