BOND TIMBER CORNWALL CRICKET LEAGUE DIVISION TWO EAST (SATURDAY)

Luckett 246-8 (45), Bude 225-5 (45).

LUCKETT remain top of the table following a 21-run success at Bude.

The villagers headed to the North Cornwall coast with a 17-point advantage over second-placed St Blazey, and although that lead was cut by three, the destiny is in their hands.

After being sent in, Luckett openers Luke Brenton and Ryan Brown flayed the bowling to all parts as they added 103 in just 14.5 overs before Brenton (32) was caught behind off off-spinner Matt Williams.

Brown had hammered three fours and four sixes in reaching 50, but he fell soon after when he was superbly caught and bowled by Andrew De Rosa.

David Sillifant (0-26) and De Rosa (2-28) then turned the screw as the Seasiders battled back, although Andrew Hoskin (32) and James Wilkinson (36) rebuilt again.

The big finish was never forthcoming as Richard Dymond (4-47 off 6) went to work, but some cameos from the lower order including Jonny Hoskin’s 21 not out from 10 balls, ensured they reached 246-8.

Bude’s innings stuttered from the outset as although Wayne Adams got to 21 in decent time, Luckett never relented.

Once Adams was lbw to Leion Cole, skipper Warren Rumble was also trapped in front by Robbie Piper for a rare duck.

Bude were 87-4 after 23 overs and with a mountain to climb as Cole (3-39) and Andrew Hoskin (0-18) bowled miserly spells.

Matt Whitefield was joined by De Rosa and together they went up through the gears despite several close shaves.

However, despite both men reaching deserved half centuries, Luckett were able to see the job through as Bude ended on 225-5.

De Rosa was 80 not out while Whitefield reached 64 before being bowled in the 43rd over by Marc Brown.
