Bond Timber Cornwall Cricket League Division Five and Six East round-up – Saturday, June 27
OLIVER Keates took 6-21 as Launceston Seconds secured a third win of the season over visiting Bugle in Division Five East.
The North Cornwall side reached 57-1 through Phil Spry (25) and Glyn Hutchings (19), but needed 28 from Matt Hann to get to 138 all out.
Opening bowlers Ryan Christophers (1-21) and Ryan Vanstone (2-18) did the early damage, before Keates ran through the middle and lower order.
Holsworthy Seconds remain winless in Division Five following a six-wicket defeat to visiting Gunnislake.
With several regulars in the first team, they could only amass 119-8 as both Martin Bell and Ryan Smith made 33. Nobody took more than a wicket in the chase.
Luckett Seconds were thrashed by eight wickets by visiting Newquay Thirds. Dan Pearce smacked 74 and Mike Clements a rapid 31 in their 150 all out, but the coastal club raced to victory.
South Petherwin Seconds remain second in Division Six after winning a last ball thriller at Werrington Fourths by three wickets.
Former second team skipper Rob Dymond made 77 from just 44 balls in Werrington’s 198-5 as Emma Barnes took 3-31.
Petherwin raced out of the blocks via 56 apiece from openers James Cawsey and Richard Watson, followed by Trevor Dingle’s 53 not out which allowed Barnes to get a single off the last ball for victory. Will Conway claimed 3-11 from three overs.
Tintagel are just seven behind Petherwin after winning by 64 runs at their St Neot counterparts.
Ben Lane’s 53 plus 37 from Simon Harrison and Joe Parsons helped them reach 211-8 before Simon Fry’s 6-43.
Bude Seconds had a day to forget at St Stephen. The Seasiders were far from full strength and conceded a whopping 363-6 before eighties from openers Michael Taylor (83no) and Matt Whitefield (85) saw them respond with 180-1.
