SOUTH Petherwin remain in pole position for promotion to Division Two East after thrashing St Blazey Seconds by 232 runs at Kennards House.
Star of the show was opener Taylor Gerry who carried his bat for 145 not out, an innings which contained 17 fours and four sixes, as he shared an opening stand of 194 with Billy Martin (72). Andrew Brenton added 34 not out towards the end.
The visitors were then bundled out for just 59 in reply, opening bowlers Sam Pengelly (4-25) and Adam Creasey (3-23) sharing seven. Petherwin are 11 adrift of leaders Saltash and 16 clear of third-placed St Minver who eased past the Ashes by 98 runs.
The hosts knocked up a hefty 300-6 as after openers Ben Hawken (50) and Jake Keast (56) started the carnage, Matt Hartnett (55) and Andy Rathborne (63no) continued the onslaught.
Saltash lost early wickets but recovered from 124-8 to reach 202 all out and maximum batting points. Veteran spinner Rob Hawken (3-25) was again the star with the ball.
Launceston are closing in on promotion to Division Three after a five-wicket success over Tideford at Lawhitton.
All six home bowlers were in the wickets including braces for Muhammad Zohaib (2-25), Ryan Christophers (2-28), Matt Bloomfield (2-38) and Liam Tilley (2-14), before the chase of 165 was led by skipper Finlay Worth (44) and Kevin Worth (39no).
Werrington Thirds still have an outside chance of finishing in the top two after edging past their Callington counterparts by one wicket at Ladycross.
Youngsters Thomas Petherick (5-28) and Tyler Jasper (3-13) shared eight wickets in the Greens’ 161 all out, a total the visitors knocked off despite losing six wickets for just 14 having been 140-3. Dan Howgill earlier made 46.
