TWO people were rescued in Bude this week after they were cut off by rising tides.

Bude’s RNLI volunteers were thrust into action at 6pm on April 20, following reports of people cut off by the rising tide between Crooklets and Northcott.

In response to the call, the crew launched and promptly located the casualties.

The indeviduals were brought on board the lifeboat and returned to Summerleaze Beach, where they were handed over to Bude Coastguard Rescue Team.

A spokesperson from Bude RNLI said: “They had done exactly the right thing by calling for help early, rather than attempting to make their own way to safety.

“It was great to see such a strong crew turnout to support the launch and recovery — a real team effort across the station.”
